Graduate of Sofia University’s Law Faculty, received her PhD in 1979 and in the same year began her career in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Institute of State and Law. She was a scientific secretary of public sciences at BAS, secretary of BAS’s general assembly, Dean of Plovdiv University’s Law Faculty and director of the Institute of State and Law at BAS. She has specialized in Max Planck Institutes in Munich and Hamburg, in the Institute of Law Sciences at London University and in Paris University 10 “Panthéon-Assas”. In 2005 prof. Kamenova was elected by the UN General Assembly as a judge in the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and between 2006 and 2009 she was a member of the trial chamber in the “Milutinovic and others” case. She took part in the work of various international organizations: UNIDROIT, UNCITRAL, WIPO etc. She thought lectures on Copyright law, Private international law, Human rights law, International law and International humanitarian law. She is author or co-author of 20 books and more than 120 articles published in Bulgaria and abroad.
